In February 2021, senior research fellow and adjunct associate professor of psychology Alexandra Horowitz published a paper in the interdisciplinary international journal Animals titled, "Can Dogs Limbo? Dogs’ Perception of Affordances for Negotiating an Opening." Co-authored by Horowitz with a team of Barnard students and alumnae, the paper highlights two studies that examine how dogs adjust their behavior in order to navigate their surrounding environments, with a particular focus on opening sizes that may be too narrow or too low for them.
